Ngutu College Building 1

Matthews Architects worked with Ngutu College to deliver the vision of the campus. The vision was to create a school,
which has reconciliation at it’s centre. A school which caters for 50% aboriginal students and a curriculum which
integrates learning from indigenous knowledge. We adopted a simple black and white design approach, using and celebrating what the existing building had to offer. Letting history be part of the experience, just like Elders influence the lives of the emerging ones. The loose furniture, which is mainly re-cycled, create the anticipated homely feel to the fit-out, making the facility a place where children come to grow within a loving community.

The Refurbishment of Building 1 (over 3200sqm), which includes kindy, junior primary and middle school was successfully completed early 2022.
