There’s something different about our team. Many modern design studios are divided into creative, technical and managerial compartments. We are not, and deliberately so. This means that each architect within our proposed team is fully versed across all project stages. Therefore, the architect that begins the project with you stays with the project from start to finish, and beyond. This old fashioned idea is now so rare that it is almost revolutionary.

Project Team

Gerald is a dynamic Architect with a deep passion for creating experientially rich environments. With a perfect blend of conceptual design expertise and a thorough understanding of project procurement, construction, and delivery, Gerald brings a unique, holistic approach to every project. Beginning his practice in Adelaide in 2000, he has honed his craft across diverse global locations, from Australia to England, Wales, France, Hong Kong, and mainland China. Now leading a talented, multidisciplinary team, Gerald continues to shape and deliver successful, impactful projects across Australia, always pushing boundaries to enhance both functionality and experience.

Veselin has been an integral part of Matthews for over 20 years and is our most experienced Senior Architectural Technician. With his exceptional skill and extensive experience, he consistently delivers well-crafted and meticulously coordinated architectural documentation. As an associate, Veselin actively contributes to the technical professional development of our team, sharing his expertise and insights to help drive continuous improvement across the practice. His dedication and depth of knowledge make him a highly valued member of the firm.

Sofiya is a talented designer with a keen eye for detail and exceptional graphic skills, bringing designs to life by capturing not only their form but also the mood and atmosphere of spaces through powerful visualisations. She thrives on working across all stages of a project, from inception to completion and client handover, ensuring each detail is carefully considered. One of her key interests lies in seamlessly integrating the old with the new, blending history with modernity. As an associate, Sofiya plays a key role in guiding the team through projects and contributes to the management of the company Quality Assurance System to ensure overall efficiency and workflow.

Originally from Scotland, Robert made Adelaide home in 2021 when he joined the Matthews team. With experience spanning commercial offices, hotels, and large-scale residential projects, he brings a well-rounded perspective to design. Passionate about creating spaces that are both functional and inspiring, Robert combines strong communication skills with a considered design approach. He thrives on collaboration and enjoys tackling complex challenges to deliver thoughtful, enduring outcomes.

Having lived and worked across the UK, Austria, Hong Kong, and now Australia, Anna brings a global perspective to her work at Matthews Architects. Her experience in international design studios has shaped her expertise in computational design, façade systems, and rationalising complex architectural geometries. Passionate about collaboration, she works closely with clients, local architects, and consultants to deliver innovative and technically refined design solutions. Anna’s ability to bridge creativity with precision makes her a valuable contributor to the team.

Jacob has developed a strong foundation in the technical aspects of architecture and has played a key role in projects like CMI Toyota Christies Beach. With a keen eye for detail and a strength in seamless contract administration, Jacob ensures projects run smoothly from design through to completion. Passionate about creating spaces that have a lasting, positive impact, he enjoys collaborating with the team to develop practical and well-crafted solutions.

Bruce Sun is a Graduate of Architecture who brings a thoughtful, collaborative approach to the Matthews Architects team. With experience across healthcare, commercial, and residential projects, he contributes a well-rounded perspective and a strong understanding of how design responds to different user needs and environments. He approaches each project with care and attention to detail, supporting the team to achieve cohesive and considered design outcomes.

Kelvin brings an international perspective to design, shaped by his professional experience in Singapore and Malaysia, and a Master of Architecture from the University of Adelaide. With a strong foundation in both architecture and landscape design, Kelvin is driven by the belief that meaningful architecture begins with a deep understanding of the landscape and its connection to the public realm.

Originally from Argentina and now based in Adelaide, Lucas brings over nine years of experience to the Matthews Architects team. With a strong background in architectural design and project documentation, he’s known for his proactive mindset, attention to detail, and approachable nature. Lucas works closely with colleagues and clients alike, contributing to a collaborative studio environment and consistently helping deliver high-quality outcomes. His commitment and easygoing style make him a valued part of every project he’s involved in.

Daniela is a Graduate of Architecture who brings over five years of international professional experience to the Matthews Architects team, contributing a grounded and well-rounded perspective across residential, community, and mixed-use projects. She supports projects through design development, documentation, and coordination, with a strong focus on clarity, quality, and collaboration. Daniela is recognised for her thorough and reliable approach to documentation, her clear communication with consultants and collaborators, and her strong sense of professional accountability.

Ping Ern is a Graduate of Architecture who brings a thoughtful and socially driven design approach to Matthews Architects. With a strong interest in creating spaces that encourage community connection, she is motivated by the role architecture plays in shaping meaningful, people-focused environments. Ping Ern contributes to the team with a sensitivity to narrative and place, supporting the development of projects that are both purposeful and engaging.

Jordan Bower is a Graduate of Architecture at the beginning of her professional career, bringing a thoughtful and people-focused perspective to Matthews Architects. Her background in medical administration and customer service underpins a strong sense of empathy, organisation, and responsiveness; qualities that align with the studio’s collaborative and client-focused approach. With a growing interest in sustainability and place-based design, Jordan contributes to projects with curiosity and care, supporting the team across design development and documentation.

As our Design Studio Junior, Jonathan is in the early stages of his architectural journey, learning the foundations of the profession while actively contributing to the team. With a strong interest in design and visual storytelling, he supports the studio with drafting, digital modelling, and rendering. Eager to learn and grow, Jonathan brings curiosity, energy, and a fresh perspective to every project he’s involved in.

Tiffany joins Matthews Architects at the very beginning of her professional journey, bringing fresh perspective, curiosity and enthusiasm to the studio. Having recently completed high school, she is stepping confidently into the world of architecture with a genuine passion for design and the built environment.
With a keen interest in architecture and spatial thinking, Tiffany is fascinated by how thoughtful design can shape experience, support learning and influence the way people connect with place. She approaches each task with energy and an eagerness to learn, contributing to the studio through research, visual development and project support.

Margo is instrumental in managing project schedules, coordinating documents, and tracking tasks to keep teams aligned and projects progressing efficiently. With a sharp attention to detail and an ability to anticipate project needs, Margo supports the delivery of work behind the scenes; ensuring information is accurate, accessible, and on time.
Her positive energy and can-do attitude contribute to a well-ordered and efficient studio environment, enabling the project team to focus on design and delivery with confidence.

Admin Team

As Studio Coordinator, Kristy is at the heart of Matthews Architects, ensuring the studio runs smoothly and efficiently. She oversees operations, marketing & communications, finance, and the day-to-day workings of the office, keeping everything organised and on track. With a sharp eye for detail and a proactive approach, Kristy balances the big picture with the finer details, supporting the team so they can focus on delivering great design. Whether managing project logistics, refining communications, or keeping the studio’s pulse steady, Kristy plays a vital role in keeping everything running seamlessly
